ABOUT THE UPTOWN BUSINESS DISTRICT
The Uptown Business District is a property-based, Business Improvement District(BID) in the heart of North Long Beach, CA. The Uptown Business District is funded through property based assessments levied to property owners within its boundaries. All assessments collected are utilized to provide programs and services that benefit district property owners and businesses.
The district is situated along the Atlantic Ave. and Artesia Blvd. transportation corridors and is home to over 140 businesses.

WHO WE ARE
The Uptown Property and Community Association, a private non-profit organization, manages the Uptown Business District and its programs. The organization is governed by volunteer Board of Directors that consists of property owners, business owners and community stakeholders.
Meet Tasha HunterExecutive Director, Uptown BID |
Tasha W. Hunter, Uptown’s Executive Director, manages operations to rehabilitate properties, maintains our clean and safe programs, supports local businesses, and partners with North Long Beach residents on community projects.
Hunter, an Uptown resident, has experience managing complex projects and teams in on-going projects, large-scale event planning on projects like the 2015 Uptown Beach Streets and Leimert Park Artwalk, film and television production, project negotiation, marketing, and budgeting. She comes from previous roles working with Long Beach City College, Long Beach Unified School District, Long Beach Community Action Partnership, Light & Life West, and has additional skills in community outreach and youth mentorship. Hunter also serves on the Arts Council for Long Beach Board of Directors and volunteers with Champions for Caring Connections Homeless Outreach program, and has previously worked with student equity programs at Long Beach City College. She has an MFA from Chapman University, a Bachelor’s from UCLA, and an AA in Journalism from Long Beach City College. |
